Who We Are
World Flix is a non-profit organization determined to change the world one video clip at a time. We have three underlying philosophies:
- Through modern technology we can assist thousands of people around the world by bringing their issues to the public through video clips and the Internet.
- Everyone deserves to know the joy of giving which is why we specialize in microgrants and small donations.
- Donors should know exactly where 100% of their money is going and be able to see the tangible results of their donations.
Our Mission
World Flix is a 501(c)(3) public benefit corporation dedicated to empowering individuals to make a significant impact on humanitarian need. The mission of World Flix is to make it simple for people from any background to donate to social programs worldwide by hosting videos of social programs from across the globe and providing safe, online resources for donors (at any level) to oversee charitable programs in real time.
World Flix makes history by innovating philanthropy and empowering an entirely new sector of the population to fund their philanthropic endeavors. Our approach is to provide opportunities for anyone to become a social entrepreneur and increase the capacity of charities providing basic need services.
How We Started
The seeds of World Flix were planted in our CEO, Laika Grant Mann, at the Nonprofit Management Executive Program at Georgetown University during an informal discussion of how everyone wants to be a philanthropist or a U.N. Goodwill Ambassador. A couple of months later when her sons were filming a short video for YouTube, Laika suddenly realized her dream of a nonprofit “by the people for the people”. This was entirely through an Internet-based charity that featured video clips for organizing partnerships globally and online donations. Through family & friends, a group of people formed to found World Flix, e-philanthropy for the next generation!
Laika Grant Mann - Founder and Chief Executive Officer
After working as a family law attorney both in private practice and at the California Superior Court of Santa Cruz, Laika founded World Flix as an innovative approach to help families and communities in need and empower activists from across the world. Working extensively with families in transition, Laika was able to connect how various, local family issues parallel global family and community issues, a major insight in the development of World Flix. Receiving her Bachelor of Arts from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and her Jurist Doctorate from the Monterey College of Law, Laika culminated her law career to spearhead the concept that anyone can act as a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador by bringing attention to global issues through video clips on the internet.

What We Do - World Flix Programs
World Flix transcends traditional models of philanthropy by integrating college internships, social entrepreneurship, and community organization capacity building with user-based technology. As a young charitable organization, World Flix is in the process of developing three major program areas that interact to increase inclusion in philanthropy:
- Donor Engagement through a Global Community: The World Flix video portal utilizes technology, film, and journalism to empower the global citizen to make a profound difference in the quality of life for people in any nation. Donors can pool their resources with other donors to help many programs that would otherwise lack significant economic support. Through World Flix, donors come together as one online community foundation with the assurance that 100% of their contributions are dedicated to direct service.
- Capacity Building for Community-Based-Organizations and Social Entrepreneurs: World Flix will advance the sustainability of community-based-organizations not only through direct funding but also through technical assistance programs that target capacity building in Video/Internet marketing.
- Youth Leadership: While youth and college students can participate in World Flix as an online donor or through community fundraising projects, World Flix will also provide opportunities for their participation at various levels of operation through leadership development in philanthropy. Leadership opportunities will range from fieldwork with humanitarian projects, journalism and film documentation abroad.
